  • The Infants production of 'The Litter muncher'

    Thu 30 Jun 2016

After weeks of rehearsals, The Infant department took to the stage for their performance of The Litter Muncher; Thursday 30th June saw the final outstanding performance.

The play included dance, poetry and some very catchy songs! The story, based in Lazy Daisy Village, explained the importance of looking after the environment and putting litter in the bins!

The children sang beautifully to a full house each time.

    Well done everyone!

  • Battle of the Brands - Year 3/4

    Thu 30 Jun 2016

On Thursday 30th June, Year 3/4 took to the stage at the Princes Hall, Aldershot where local business and primary school children joined together to form a band, singing ‘Hello’ by Adele and ‘What do you mean’ by Justin Bieber.

In preparation for the event, the children worked alongside the local companies learning about enterprise and business. They designed t-shirts, key rings and tickets to promote their band and on the night, they delivered and outstanding presentation to an audience of over 400.

With only 2 ½ points between 4th place and the winners, we all agreed that we were ALL winners!

During our collective worship the following day, the whole school applauded Year 3/4 for their exceptional efforts and they were presented with some break-time treats, which were very well received!

Well done Year 3/4, the whole school are proud of you!

  • Year 6 Leavers service

    Thu 30 Jun 2016

Year 6 Leavers Service at Guildford Cathedral

On Thursday 30th June, Year 6 attended their Leavers Service at Guildford Cathedral. They enjoyed a lovely morning alongside hundreds other Year Six children from Guildford Diocese church schools. We were entertained with wonderful singing and some exceptional, reflective workshops which helped the children reflect on their time at primary school. The service was led by Canon Derek Holbird and The Very Revd Dianna Gwillliams, Dean of Guildford. The staff of the Diocese Education centre and Cathedral ensured all the children had a morning to remember.

Our children were wonderful; they were praised by everyone who worked with them and our standard was carried proudly during the procession. Well done Year 6!

  • Sports Day is ON - come rain or shine!

    Fri 24 Jun 2016

    Updated 24.6.16 10am

Sports day will be held on the Queens Road Playing fields as planned. Children will be having lunch at school as normal and then we will walk down to the field for 1.00pm ready to start the races at 1.15pm. Children should be collected from the field at the end of Sports day at 3.20pm. Good Luck to all the teams!

    Updated 23.6.16 3.06pm

Come rain or shine tomorrow we will be going ahead with Sports Day!

Children will bring home their PE Kit today and should come dressed in it tomorrow morning.  They should also wear trainers with white ankle/sports socks (not trainer socks please)

Please make sure that they bring their school jumper/cardigan, a waterproof coat, sunhat, water bottle and apply sunscreen at home before school.

We will now NOT be having a picnic beforehand at the field, due to the wet conditions.  The children will have their lunch as usual at 12pm and school dinners will be available.  We will then walk down to the field for 1.00pm ready to start the races at 1.15pm. Children should be collected from the field at the end of Sports day at 3.20pm.

If the field is still waterlogged or it is raining, we will hold a revised programme of races on the playground.  You are still welcome to come and support your child if this is the case, however as the safety of the children is paramount, and space is limited, you will need to view the races from outside the school railings on High Street. If the races are held at school then your child should be collected from school at the usual time.

We will review the situation in the morning, and let you know by 10.30am where it will be taking place.  You can also check for information here on the school website.

    Thank you.

  • Year 2 visit Wintershall - 'The Life of Christ'

    Tue 21 Jun 2016

On Tuesday 21st June we were blessed with good weather as we set off to the Wintershall Estate to see 'The Life of Christ'. When we arrived we were guided into the beautiful grounds to prepare for Act I, and it was clear that we were all deeply moved by the spiritual atmosphere  we were about to be part of for the day.

The day enabled the children of Year 2 to see a biblical presentation of the life of Christ of outstanding quality. The cast of over 200 brought to life the characters and the story and we even became part of the 5000 that Jesus fed and were given bread after He performed this miracle.

The children had a wonderful day and were touched by the kindness of the cast and the man who played 'Jesus' at end of the performance, who spent quality time with our children who wanted to speak to him and ask questions.

Certainly a day that the children and staff will cherish.

  • Queen's 90th Celebration Tea Party

    Fri 10 Jun 2016

On Friday 10th June we were blessed with glorious weather which enabled us to enjoy a celebration tea party in honour of Her Majesty the Queen's 90th Birthday. The afternoon was opened by all standing to sing the National Anthem, led by Mr Hayman's singing group, followed by a welcome speech from Madam Mayor, Cllr Jacqui Vosper.

To prepare for this event the children participated in a whole 'bake-a thon' the day before and baked 180 scones!

Parents, Governors, families, staff and children all joined together to enjoy cucumber sandwiches, strawberries, scones and cakes. These were enjoyed with squash for the children and a lovely cup of tea for the adults!

As always there was a true community spirit throughout the whole afternoon displayed through the generosity of parents, governors and families helping to clear away together.

    Happy 90th Birthday your Majesty!
