  • Look how much we raised for the NSPCC!

    Fri 20 Oct 2017

Congratulations to all the children and families at St Mark's for raising

    £813.62

for the NSPCC after our 'Big Work out' on 6th October.

Mandy, from the NSPCC, came to present us with a special certificate and expressed how grateful the charity were to receive vital funds like this that all helps to make a big difference to the lives of children across the county.

    Well done St Mark's!

  • Visit from the Diocesan Director of Education

    Thu 19 Oct 2017

We were absolutely thrilled and delighted to welcome Mr Alex Tear, the Diocesan Director of Education, to our school today.

After hearing of Mr Tear's impending visit, one of the Year 6 boys felt compelled to write a formal letter, explaining the exciting learning that the class were planning to share at their outcome during his visit.

The children in Year 5/6 became Mr Tear's guide during their Science outcome and the children proudly presented Mr Tear with certificates for completing a fitness session and making a blood smoothie!

The children in Year 1/2 were busy preparing their class zoo (see the giraffes below!) and Year 3/4 were absorbed in their 'game zone' creations - but all the staff and children greeted Mr Tear with a huge, welcoming smile.

We feel very proud to feature on Mr Tear's twitter page with some of our zoo members in Year 1/2! We look forward to welcoming Mr Tear back to our school very soon.

  • NSPCC Big Workout

    Fri 06 Oct 2017

    The NSPCC Big Workout!

On Friday 6th October the whole school took on the challenge of 'The Big Workout'. The entire outside of the school was transformed into exciting workout activities for the children to challenge themselves with. With children working in partners from different year groups, team spirit and a true sense of community could be felt across the school all morning.

The children encouraged and supported each other to try their best and we were blessed to be supported by Chelsea Football Club, who ran one of the stations.

The event was in aid of the NSPCC. Participation in this sponsored event will help other children by raising vital funds to support the work of the NSPCC which includes the special helpline service for children – Childline.

If you would like to help this charity, please ensure that the form and sponsor money are returned to school by Wednesday 11th October.

Every day in the UK, children face overwhelming problems. For many of these children the NSPCC and Childline are their only hope. The money that we raise will make a real difference to children’s lives. Your support is very much appreciated.

  • Harvest Festival

    Thu 05 Oct 2017

This week the donations for Harvest Festival have been pouring in. All of the non-perishable items will be donated to the Farnborough Food bank, who are committed to supporting those in need in our local community, ensuring there is ‘enough for all’.

Mike from the Food bank joined us for the service at St Mark's Church and explained the importance of the food bank in the local community. Thank you all for your very kind donations.

Year R, 1 and 2 started the service by explaining the importance of sharing. Year 3 and 4 summarised the theme by explaining how we can share with each other. Year 5 and 6 led a presentation that helped us reflect on what we can do for ourselves to be better people. During the service the children enjoyed sharing the Bread of Friendship and sang a beautiful a cappella style, two-part song, 'Shallom', to help us think about friendship.

The service ended with some reflective words and prayers from Father Ian, and of course, our all time favourite - Big Red Combine Harvester!
