  • Christmas Boxes are on their way to Sierra Leone

    Fri 24 Nov 2017

Christmas Boxes to St George's Foundation are now on their journey

    2017

As Christmas time approaches, the St Mark's community once again came together to ensure that each and every child in the orphanage at the St George's foundation receive a very special box, packed full of wonderful delights to enrich this time of the year. Philip Dean provided us with a list of 50 children's names and each box was personalised and parents and the school community took their boxes off over half-term to fill with Christmas surprises, such as hats, note books, pencils, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap and many many other things!

We were delighted to hear that the boxes are now in the process of their long journey to Sierra Leone to be delivered in time for Christmas to bring a little happiness into their world.

You will be aware of the mudslide that Freetown suffered in August 2017. Thankfully the St George's foundation were o.k but a huge amount of support work has gone into supporting children and families and children separated form their families. Our thoughts and prayers are with them all.

  • Spirituality Team lead worship

    Tue 21 Nov 2017
Our wonderful Spirituality Team lead an inspirational worship to the whole school this morning, acting out a story called "Stone Soup". A group of villagers were taught to share what they had by a traveller passing through their village. They discussed with the children the message of sharing and how important it is. The worship ended with a beautiful reflection and hymn, "When I needed a neighbour." The team prepared and delivered this worship independently. We all felt very proud of their tremendous effort and confidence in front of the whole school. Well done Spirituality Team!

Children....you certainly showed us how unique you all are!
  • Footprints Theatre Workshop

    Wed 15 Nov 2017

On Wednesday, Robin and Steve came back to visit us to deliver a wonderful whole-school RE project: 'The Jesse Tree'. The creative, inspiring workshops supported the children to engage with Bible characters and the whole span of the Old and New Testaments. All the children enjoyed a rich and hugely stimulating day enjoying the colourful narratives from Steve and Robin and other exciting activities provided by their teachers. As off-timetable days go, this is one of the best!

Thank you Robin and Steve, on behalf of all the children and staff at St Mark's for such a very special day...

  • Into Film Festival - Cinema Trip

    Tue 14 Nov 2017

This week the whole of Key stage one and two set off to the Vue cinema in Farnborough today to watch Cars 3! This was a specially chosen film with an anti-bullying theme coupled with a heart-warming story about how how we are all different and unique - and all equal.

The Into Film Festival offers the chance to provide children with the opportunity for meaningful engagement with film. We had a wonderful time and took over the cinema! As always we are incredibly proud of our children and received commendable comments from both staff and members of the public on our pupils' behaviour and good manners.
