    Mon 25 Jul 2016

    Summer Reading Challenge 2016 - Update 12.9.16

It’s just a week to go until the end of this year’s summer reading challenge, The Big Friendly Read. Public libraries across the county have welcomed over 25,000 children who have been reading thousands of books to win their medal and certificate. There are still some children who haven’t managed to finish the challenge. Please encourage your child to make that last step and visit the library - they'd love to be able to give them their medal and certificate to proudly show in school.

The BIG FRIENDLY READ - Summer Reading Challenge is here!

The Summer Reading Challenge takes place every year during the summer holidays. You can sign up at your local library, then read six library books of your choice to complete the Challenge. There are exclusive rewards to collect along the way, and it’s FREE to take part!

Why not visit the Summer Reading Challenge website for more information and lots of ideas for books to read over the summer?

All children have until September to complete the challenge, so there's time to complete it when we return to school as well. Good Luck everyone! We look forward to hearing all about your exciting choice of books your have read.

  • Whole School Big Day Out!

Tue 19 Jul 2016 Mrs Stocchetti

    St Mark's BIG DAY OUT!

The school classroom doors and office closed on Tuesday 19th July...why? Well, to celebrate the successes and hard work of all the children and staff who have had an absolutely fantastic year of course!

We took over the Farnborough Leisure centre and were joined by Mark the Circus Skills performer. The children spent the day learning new skills and enjoying the special friendships they all have. It was a time to truly deepen our appreciation of each other. Staff ran different stations of games, parachute, soft play, golf and bowling...so much fun was had by all.

We completed our day by giving thanks for our wonderful day in the form of worship and sang a Capella in the hall which sounded so amazing that the leisure centre staff stopped to listen and enjoy.

The leisure centre manager complimented the children on their impeccable behaviour, manners and singing and the staff for their endless enthusiasm and clear organisation of the day.

Well done St Mark's- a very well deserved 'Big Day Out!'   Have a wonderful summer everyone!

  • Year 6 Leavers Service

    Sun 17 Jul 2016

On Sunday 17th July, the school community gathered together in our church, St Mark's, to deliver a special service, to mark the end of their time at Primary School.

The service was underpinned by the children's comparison between how they are feeling now and how Jesus' disciples felt when Jesus told them he was leaving. They read special memories of school and about each other, and were praised by the whole congregation for their sustained a capella singing in harmony of 'The Lord's My Shepherd' during communion.

The service closed with some meaningful prayers to help prepare them on their next stage of life.

Good luck and God Bless you all Year 6. Congratulations on all your achievements and we wish you all every success in all you do.

  • Sports Award - School of the Year!

    Tue 12 Jul 2016

We have been awarded this fantastic trophy for our amazing Sports Leaders, contributions to NEH competitions and above all the vast number of positive comments received by the SGO about the manner in which St Mark's children compete in sports events! Well Done children, we are so very proud of you!!

This prize was presented to us at the annual Sports Awards by Olympic rower, Charles Cousins. The evening was hosted by four of our WONDERFUL Year 5 children, who spoke confidently and clearly on the stage in front of a packed hall. They introduced themselves and told the audience about becoming Sports Leaders at St Mark's, before welcoming each award presenter to the stage. Mrs Stocchetti and Mrs Smith were incredibly proud of their outstanding presentation skills and the superb way they represented our school.

  • Alice in Wonderland

    Wed 06 Jul 2016

For the last few weeks the whole school has reverberated with songs from Alice in Wonderland. The shows were truly enchanting and made all the effort so worthwhile. The singing, acting and dancing were wonderful and the creativity of the costumes and scenery quite extraordinary. Our thanks to all our families for providing such inspiring costumes!

To put on a show of such quality requires true passion and hard work. Thank you to all the staff and volunteers for making it such a success. Finally, thank you to all the staff, children and parents for putting so much love and joy into the production.
