  • Cinema Trip!

    Fri 18 Nov 2016

Key Stage one and the Juniors headed off to the Vue cinema in Farnborough today to watch Ice Age: Collision Course! This was a specially chosen film with an anti-bullying theme coupled with a heart-warming story about family unity.

The Into Film Festival offers the chance to provide children with the opportunity for meaningful engagement with film. We had a wonderful time and took over most of the cinema and were commended by the cinema staff on our pupil's impeccable behaviour.

Take a look at the photos below!

We have received our SIAMS inspection report (church inspection report) and are very pleased to announce that we were awarded OUTSTANDING in all areas!

    • How well does the school, through its distinctive Christian character, meet the needs of all learners?  OUTSTANDING

The school’s Christian values of Challenge, Integrity, Respect, Community, Love and Equality (CIRCLE) are central to the life of this school. They are known, understood and lived out by all the school community. Learners understand how these values impact on their lives and on their learning.

    • What is the impact of collective worship on the school community? OUTSTANDING

Great value is placed upon collective worship which is well-planned and integral to the school’s CIRCLE values.

    • How effective is Religious Education? OUTSTANDING

Learners are enthusiastic about religious education and show a genuine interest in both the content of lessons and the varied activities which stimulate their thinking. They have excellent behaviours for learning demonstrating a mature approach which enables them to master knowledge and skills in a supportive environment where all opinions are valued and respected.

    • How effective are the leadership and management of the school as a church school? OUTSTANDING

The governing body, school staff, parents and learners themselves, all articulate the Christian values of Challenge, Integrity, Respect, Community, Love and Equality (CIRCLE). These values are embedded into the heart of everything the school does and have a positive impact on the lives of the learners served by the school.

The school staff, led by the headteacher who is an excellent role model, ensure that the school’s values are integrated into every aspect of school life, which has promoted high standards of both attainment and pupil progress.

The inspector was especially impressed with how the "school provides an excellent ‘family feeling’ in which each member of the school community has an important place and a sense of belonging".

  • St Mark's Bake off!

    Thu 10 Nov 2016

On Wednesday 9th November St Mark's held their very own bake off!

After hearing about the important fundraising that the St Georges foundation continues to do to raise funds for children orphaned by Ebola, the children of St Mark’s decided that they wanted to raise enough for the children to have a Christmas party this year, instead of sending our usual Christmas boxes.

The cakes went on display in the school hall and were judged (based on their appearance) by a stand-in ‘Mary Berry’! There was one 'Star Baker' from the juniors and one from the infants, and each won a star baker wooden spoon! The cakes were well received and  washed down with a cup of lemonade!  The remainder went on sale to parents and families after school in the playground, during parents evening and in our church.

The children set a target of £300 and I am delighted to tell you that we raise.....

    £345.87

The children in Sierra Leone will have a wonderful Christmas time...thanks to the generosity of our school community.

    Thank you everyone!
