We were delighted to welcome Mayor Cllr Vosper on Friday 21st October at 2.45pm for the grand opening of our new Early Years area.
The planning and design of the new area was through a long process of the St Mark's team along side the professionals which resulted in a flexible, exciting space for our pupils to explore and learn. The children absolutely love it and are reaping the benefits through play; they are particularly enjoying the new mud kitchen!
We were committed to improving our outdoor provision for the youngest children in the school- a really important part of the Early Years, and are delighted that we are now able to offer the children exactly what we wanted.
There are also so many other new opportunities to develop and explore learning in the new Early Years area! There is a new interactive and exciting water station, designed to support the children’s development in a range of areas including mathematical and language development. The new chalk boards allow for creative and physical development and there’s even a place where the children can measure their heights! The large planting area provides opportunities for planting and growing their own plants and vegetables, which they can then eat and cook with. The specially built transparent paint station allows the children to express their creative thoughts, feelings and ideas through paint.
With so much extra space being created it means that the children are able to put this to creative use through making dens and special role play areas that are meaningful to them.
We are thrilled with our area which could not have happened without the dedication of the St Mark's team.
