Chinese New Year

St Mark's marked Chinese New Year during our worships this week. We helped the children to explore the celebration of Chinese New Year through a traditional story about why the new year is given an animal name. This year being the year of the rabbit. The main theme of generosity and giving, ran throughout the week, as it is an important value in both Chinese and Christian cultures.

The children also enjoyed craft activities making dragons and rabbits!

Our challenge this week was to make someone feel special in the way that you treat them.

‘Gung hei fat choi’ to us all.

A year of peace and tranquillity.

A year of growing up with patience and kindness,

growing nearer to our friends, not further apart,

and of peace in our world.

‘Gung hei fat choi’ to us all.

Amen
