🌌 Exciting News from the Natural History Museum! 🪐
A rare and valuable meteorite has just landed on Earth, and the adventure begins! 🌍🚀 The Natural History Museum is launching a specialised recovery team to retrieve this cosmic treasure, hidden in a remote location. But this isn't just any ordinary mission – it’s a thrilling challenge that will require you to put your knowledge and understanding of forces into action!
Imagine the hurdles the team might face: navigating rugged terrain, overcoming gravitational pulls, and tackling wind resistance. With obstacles around every corner, it's a test of both ingenuity and scientific prowess! Can Diamond class help them maximise their efforts and ensure the meteorite reaches the museum safely?
Join us in this cosmic quest and discover applying our skills in forces to make a difference in this extraordinary mission. Together, let’s unlock the secrets of the universe! 🌌🔬
Stay tuned for more updates, and may the forces be with you! 💪✨
We were thrilled to share an exciting lesson we have dived into: Parachuting In! 🌍✈️ In this hands-on activity, our remarkable remote recovery team needed to decide which parachute design was best for their mission. But what factors did they consider? 🤔
This lesson not only piqued our curiosity about forces but also encouraged critical thinking and teamwork as they collaborated to find the best parachute design.
💡 We were excited to see the innovative ideas your young scientists came up with!
Let’s inspire our children to reach new heights in their understanding of science!
Attention! 🌟
We are excited to share highlights from a recent exhilarating lesson that challenged our budding scientists! 📚✨
The Meteorite was in a Big Hole
In this immersive hands-on lesson, we tackled a thought-provoking scenario: A meteorite had landed in a deep hole, and it was up to us to devise a plan for retrieving it! How would the recovery team get it out? 🤔
We embarked on a masterclass focusing on levers and pulleys! Through a series of dynamic investigations, we learned the fundamental principles behind these ingenious machines.
This lesson not only encouraged critical thinking and problem-solving skills but also promoted teamwork and communication! Together, we empowered our children to think like scientists and engineers.
Stay tuned for updates from this exciting journey!
🚗 Explored the Force of Friction! 🌟
Attention science enthusiasts! Recently, our talented team embarked on an exciting investigation into the world of friction. We found ourselves at a thrilling crossroads with three distinct paths, each showcasing different surfaces.
🔍 What was on the agenda?
We examined how ground friction affects the force needed to move a toy car. This hands-on experiment invigorated our understanding of physics and enhanced our problem-solving skills!
Additionally, we predicted and recommended the best materials for bike brakes. How did different surfaces affect braking efficiency? Through our friction investigation, we delved into this vital aspect of safety and motion.
We are thrilled to share that we have been diving into an exhilarating scientific investigation involving a meteorite recovery mission! 🚀💫 Throughout this lesson, we engage in group work to explore the best boat designs for safely crossing a waterway to retrieve the meteorite based on their scientific findings.
Shape Matters: Each group analysed different boat shapes and their effectiveness in navigating water. We needed to explain to the recovery team leader which shape is the best choice and why, backed by scientific reasoning.
Streamlined Shapes: We conducted mini-investigations to understand the concept of streamlined shapes. We observe how different shapes fall at varying speeds, gaining insight into why some are better suited for movement through water.
Identifying Shapes: As part of the lesson, we were challenged to identify and discuss various streamlined shapes, fostering critical thinking and observational skills.
We encourage you to discuss these concepts at home. Can your child recognise streamlined shapes around your house or in everyday life? 🏠✈️
Keep an eye on our school website for updates on their progress in this hands-on, engaging lesson that truly enhances their understanding of the scientific principles at play!
