What a way to end their time at St Mark's! This was the wettest water fight ever!!
Goodbye and Good Luck Year 6!
Year 6 led worship this morning to pass the candle of light to the Year 5 children. This candle was presented to our children during the beautiful Leavers Service which we attended at Guildford Cathedral earlier this month.
"Father God, you wanted your light to be passed on to others. You are the light of the
world and you call us to be lights to the world. Help us not to hide our light away, keeping it to ourselves. You want us to be lights that bring light to as many people as possible."
The whole school community came together to celebrate with the Year 6 children. They led a beautiful service at St Mark's Church using the theme of Friendship to reflect on their time at primary school.
"There’s a miracle of friendship that dwells within our hearts
And we don’t know how it happens, or where it all starts
But the happiness it brings us always gives a special lift
And we realise that friendship, is God’s most perfect gift!"
The children thought about the ingredients of true friendship and broke it down into four categories; Unconditional Love, Unwavering Support, Willingness to Challenge and Full of Grace. Each of these were explained and linked to meaningful quotes from the Bible. The Year 6 children also wrote dedications to their friends and received a stunning, personalised spoon with the message "True friends are never apart, may be in distance but never in heart". There was not a dry eye in sight while they read their reflective poems, describing what St Mark's meant to them.
We are extremely proud of Year 6 and the service was a wonderful way to cherish their time at St Mark's and start them on their journey to secondary school. Well Done Year 6, you were true St Mark's sticks of rock!
The Infants put on a hilarious show this week called "Hats Off". It told the story of Apple the pony, who found a mysterious hat but couldn't seem to find the right time of the year to wear it. A collection of farm animals, including the chilly chickens and party pigs, ably assisted her and with the help of her close friends, Cuddles the sheep, Einstein the cow, Buster the puppy and a very hippy goat, she discovered that her hat was in fact a summer hat! The children sang with great enthusiasm and showed how the weather and plants change through out the seasons. A huge thank you to everyone who helped with costumes, props and scenery.
Please visit the Year 1/2 class page to see more photographs of our budding actors.
The children of St Mark's put on some prime time Saturday night entertainment for the school community and their families.
To say that the standard of talent was high - is an understatement! There are definitely some future stars here at St Mark's who destined for great things.
The evening was packed full of fabulous acts from dancing to judo, magic and poetry, singing and gymnastics and even piano playing! We had a FULL audience who were lovingly looked after by our fantastic PTA. The whole event had a complete feel of community spirit and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it.
All the children were presented with awards for showing us their amazing talents. Congratulations to you all, we were all very proud of you.
