Christmas 2023

The Twinkly Nativity and Carols Round the Campfire

Christmas 2023

St Mark's performed a beautifully sparkly nativity, titled "The Twinkly Nativity" in front of a packed audience in St Mark's church. Seven gleaming stars told a very special story and gave the message of God's love at Christmas to everyone. The Infants thoroughly enjoyed learning the songs and bringing the playscript to life. They were extremely well supported by the Juniors who sang several toe tapping carols from the choir stalls. Our thanks to Rev Stephen Mourant who shared prayers and blessings for Christmas.

“But the angel said to them, “Don't be afraid! I am here with good news for you, which will bring great joy to all the people.  This very day in David's town your Saviour was born—Christ the Lord!  And this is what will prove it to you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

Luke 2 v10-12

Christmas Prayer
Robert Louis Stevenson

"Loving Father, Help us remember the birth of Jesus, that we may share in the song of angels, the gladness of the shepherds, and the worship of the wise men. Close the door of hate and open the door of love all over the world. Let kindness come with every gift and good desires with every greeting.

Deliver us from evil by the blessing which Christ brings, and teach us to be merry with clean hearts. May the Christmas morning make us happy to be Thy children, and the Christmas evening bring us to our beds with grateful thoughts, forgiving and forgiven, for Jesus' sake, Amen!"

Carols Round the Campfire

As a new event this year we held "Carols Round the Campfire". The children accompanied by their families enjoyed an evening of carols and Christmas songs, merrily sung around the playground campfire. Our wonderful PTA organised hot chocolate, mulled wine and mince pies for everyone. Our thanks go again to Rev Stephen for opening prayers and a thoughtful closing message about the meaning of Christmas. Also thank you to Mrs Dear for using her forest school skills to safely organise the wonderful atmospheric campfire. We all thoroughly enjoyed the evening and agreed it is a "keeper"!
