Christmas 2022

Christmas Celebrations

2022

This year we were delighted to return to the St Mark’s Church to hold two very special services. Firstly our nativity, “Baaarmy Bethlehem” and secondly the wonderful evening Carol Service. We were extremely thankful to Revd Stephen Mourant who joined us on both occasions to welcome families and add his blessings and prayers.

Baarmy Bethlehem

The Infants performed a super story which highlighted three very excitable sheep, looking for a party! After a great deal of looking and meeting many different people along the way they found a truly wonderful reason to celebrate, a very special baby had been born! Jesus, God’s son had arrived. The final song said it all “We want to shout about this baby, we want to tell the world his name. We want to celebrate this Christmas time with the things we’ve heard today”. The Juniors were a brilliant supporting choir beginning our service with “It was on a starry night” and raising the roof with “The bells ring out” to conclude our celebrations. We were joined by the whole school community including parents, governors and invited guests. St Mark’s were thrilled that Alex Tear, the Director of Education, from Guildford Diocese was also able to join us for the afternoon. A huge thank you to everyone for your generous comments and unwavering support.

Carol Concert

The Juniors lead a beautiful service full of Bible passages, readings, prayers, a range of carols, hand bells and of course the special nativity tableaux created by the Infants. Soloists began the service with Once in Royal David City before the congregation joined the rest of the school in this traditional carol. A selection of different carols from modern to more well known were enjoyed throughout the evening, with more solos and group performances, including Junior Choir. The newly formed hand bells group played two pieces with confidence. We were delighted to welcome a full church of St Mark’s families and the wider community.

For to us a child is born, to us a Son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isiah 9v6
