Everyone's responsibility
At St Mark's we understand that safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. All members of staff, including teaching and support staff, receive annual safeguarding training.
This covers all areas in the DFE document, "Keeping Children Safe in Education" - including the Prevent Strategy, FGM and Child Sexual Exploitation.
The school has tight procedures that record issues that relate to child protection. We work with an array of agencies including Children's Services, the School Nurse and the Police. Additional updates and training are given to staff as needed throughout the year.
For any ongoing concerns about the safety of a child or young person, you can report directly to Children’s Services in Hampshire between 9am to 5pm from Monday to Friday on 0300 555 1384, or 0300 555 1373 if out of hours.
If you have a concern regarding someone who works with children, please contact the Headteacher in the first instance to discuss your concerns. Alternatively, you can contact the Local Area Designated Officer (LADO) on 01962 876364.
If your complaint is about the Headteacher, you should contact the Chair of Governors adminoffice@st-marks.hants.sch.uk

Early Help Offer
At St Mark's Church of England School, we believe the health and well-being of our children underpins every aspect of school life. Parenting could be considered one of the most important tasks most of us will ever do, but it can also be the most challenging. Every family faces different pressures and difficulties at different times. Through our school values, and working alongside parents and carers, we can offer early help and support, or signpost to other services to help families through difficult times and prevent them from falling into crisis. Asking for help is often hard, but please be assured the staff at St Mark's aim to provide support, advice and guidance in a friendly, confidential and non-judgemental manner.
