In Year Admissions

Thank you for your interest in transferring your child to St Mark's Church of England Primary School. The following provides all the essential information for making an In-Year application.

What is In-Year Admission?

In-Year applications are for children who need to join the school outside of the normal admission rounds, for example, during the academic year. St Mark's Church of England Primary School is an Academy, and the WMAT is the Admissions Authority. The Trust is responsible for setting admission arrangements, maintaining waiting lists, and allocating school places.

How to apply

For Hampshire residents, applications can be made directly to Hampshire Admissions. If you live outside Hampshire, please contact the school for further guidance. Please note that you should not withdraw your child from their current school until a place at St Mark's Church of England Primary School has been confirmed.

You can apply for In-Year Admission if you are moving house and your child cannot continue at their current school, if your child is being educated at home and you wish for them to attend a mainstream school, or if your child is already attending another school and you would like to transfer them.

Applications can be made at any time during the academic year. They are processed in the order received, and offers are made as soon as a place becomes available. We always act in the best interests of the child, and once a place is allocated and confirmed, the child is expected to start as soon as possible to ensure continuity of education.

Applications can be submitted online via the In-Year Online Portal on the Hampshire Admissions website https://www.hants.gov.uk/admissions . If a paper form is needed, you can request one by contacting Hampshire Admissions on 0300 555 1377

or admissions.team@hants.gov.uk . The application should be made by the person with parental responsibility for the child. If you are unsure of your status, please include a covering letter explaining your situation.

Supporting documents

When submitting your application, please provide two forms of proof of residency, as well as any supporting documents such as professional evidence for exceptional, medical, or social circumstances, proof of a change of address, or evidence of arrival in the UK.

Processing your application

Applications are normally processed within 15 school days of receipt. You must respond to any offer of a place within two weeks. Instructions on how to accept or decline the place will be included in the offer. If an offer is not accepted within the given timeframe, the place may be withdrawn.

Starting at St Mark's Church of England Primary School

Once an offer is accepted, we aim to arrange for your child to start as soon as possible. If a deferral is necessary, the maximum deferral period is generally until the start of the next half term.

Waiting list

If we cannot offer a place immediately, your child’s name will be added to our waiting list and we will advise you by email of this. Positions on the waiting list are ranked according to the school’s admission policy and may change as other children with higher priority are added. Waiting lists are disbanded at the end of each academic year. If you wish to be considered for the next academic year, a new application must be submitted.

Appeals

If your child is not offered a place, you have the right to appeal. Further information is available in the appeals section of our website.

Additional information

All In-Year applications and offers are shared with the Local Authority Admissions within two days.
