Year 5/6 - Verbatim Cantata

Verbatim Cantata - 1st March 2016

In September, the children in Year 5/6 started working with Michael Betteridge, a composer, who was planning to attempt a first ever Verbatim Cantata composition. After 6 months of hard work it all finally came together and St Mark's performed with two other local primary schools alongside the Hampshire youth orchestra and choir at the Princes Hall in Aldershot.

Below  is a quote from Kevin Rogers, County Inspector, Hampshire Music Services commending the children on their impeccable behaviour and participation:

"your pupils were an absolute credit to your school. Their behaviour throughout a long and potentially trying day was impeccable: at events like this, I normally expect to offer at least one frown or quizzical look to pupils who are not quite there . . . but all I did yesterday was smile, encourage and say thank you. Brilliant!"
