Consultation on the Admission policy for 2027-2028

 

Notice is hereby given in accordance with legislation that the governing body, as the admission authority for St Mark’s Church of England Primary School, is formally consulting on its proposed admission arrangements for the school year 2027-28 and welcome your comments. 

 

The changes proposed for the 2027-2028 academic year are as follows: 

 

  • The criteria for oversubscription and removal of ‘parish boundary’: to simplify the admissions priorities and process.  

 

The six-week (minimum) consultation will begin on 01/12/2025 with the closing date for submitting comments being 26/01/2026. 

 

The proposed arrangements (admissions policy) can be viewed on the school website www.stmarkscofe.co.uk 

 

Alternatively, if you do not have access to the internet and you wish to request a printed copy of the admission arrangements, please contact the school office at St Mark’s Church of England School (adminoffice@st-marks.hants.sch.uk) 

 

Comments on the proposed admission arrangements should be sent to St Mark’s Church of England School by the closing date of 26/01/2026. 

 

 

If your child will be 4 years old between 1 September 2025 and 31 August 2026, they will be due to start school in September 2026. 

 

You are invited to book a visit to the school with the opportunity of a brief tour and to meet the Headteacher and the school Ambassadors. These will be held in small groups only. Please telephone the school office on 01252 544155, for further information and to book on.

When do I need to apply?

Hampshire County Council is responsible for our admissions arrangements.  Online admissions for Reception 2026 will open online on 1st November 2025 at www.hants.gov.uk/admissions, and close on 15th January 2026.

 

Parents will be notified by Hampshire County Council at which school their child has been offered a place on 16th April 2026.

National notification date for on-time applicants

 

Wednesday 16th April 2025

Notification date for late applicants (whose applications received after 15 January and before 16 April 2025)

 

Tuesday 29th  April 2025

Deadline date for parents wishing to lodge an appeal (returning completed appeal papers to the County Council)

 

Wednesday 21st May 2025

Appeal hearings to be held

 

From 02 June to 22 July 2025, inclusive

Decision letters to be sent

 

Within five school days of hearing

 

Please note

  1. Appeals lodged after 21 May 2025 will be heard during the above dates if possible. Where it is not achievable to hold an appeal between the above dates, the hearing will be scheduled within 30 school days (excluding any school holidays) of the appeal being lodged. Appeals lodged on or after 11 June 2025 may not be heard until the autumn term.
  2. Appellants will receive at least 10 school days’ notice of the exact date and location of their appeal hearing.
  3. Following the lodging of an appeal, additional papers may be submitted to the Appeals Service until 10 school days before the hearing. Evidence submitted after this date will be considered by the panel but this may lead to an adjournment and significant delays
