Year 5 - Today we are doing a Teams input together.  Please can you be ready with a pencil and paper to help with your workings. 

Today we will continue with written division but will look at when the fist digit is smaller than the divisor.  After the input please choose the correct level of work for you to complete.

  • What are their characteristic styles?  

  • What is different, what is similar?  

  • Which do they like the most and why?

Choose one of the famous Artists. I would like you research and crate a fact file on them (you can do this on the computer or by hand).

Today you are building on yesterday’s learning and now multiplying 3 digit numbers by 2 digit numbers. 

If you were finding it challenging yesterday please choose the easier sheet and practise two digit by 2 digit.  You can review the process using this video link https://video.link/w/9aPEb and https://video.link/w/4s9Fb.  If you are struggling with long multiplication you can use the grid method.

Good morning 5.6!  A very merry Monday and a happy new week to you all! This week we have lots of exciting and creative lessons for you all to engage with – we hope you enjoy them!

 

9:00 am Maths

Year 5 - Today we are doing a Teams input together.  Please can you be ready with a pencil and paper to help with your workings.

 

Year 6 – You are learning to understand the value of each digit and can use this to solve problems.

The PowerPoint will help you build on your skills of identifying the value of each digit in numbers given to three decimal places through solving place-value riddles. Each riddle has a series of clues based around the decimal place value of the digits in the answer.

 

When you have gone through this please complete the Decimal Place Value Riddles Sheet.  There are 3 levels to this activity so you can choose where you would like to start.

 

Once you have completed this, there is an additional challenge The Place Value Tarsia Puzzle.

 

Remember to read the questions carefully and work through each part step by step.

Year 5 – You are now learning to move from expanded multiplication you did yesterday to short multiplication.  If you watch the White Rose video ‘multiply 4 digits by 1 digit’ on this link https://vimeo.com/486775551 they will go through how this works.  When the video says have a go at questions 1-4 you can choose what sheet you want to do.  This is probably new learning for many of you so you might want to do the practice sheet below rather than the White Rose sheet they are referring to.

If you are really confident with short multiplication then start on the WhiteRose sheet and then continue the video to help with the last questions.

There is also a challenge if you want a bit more.  This is 3 levels so choose where you want to start.

Good morning year 5/6.  Hope you are all well.  We are not about to start our learning with live lessons.  Fingers crossed it all works but please bear with me as I imagine there may be a few teething problems.  If you have any problems please email the year group email address and I will get back to you as soon as possible via email of Teams.
