Good Morning Year 1/2

Last day of the Spring term today, I hope you are all in your fancy dress ready for Joe Wicks this morning.  Here is your new learning for today. Please ask an adult to send us your learning from today so we can share all the wonderful things you are doing.

Is Easter happy or sad?

Challenge 5

So today you need to decide if Easter is happy or sad? What have you decided? Talk to an adult about your ideas.

 I would like you to make an Easter garden. You can either make this like the pictures below or draw/paint one. The symbols you should include are:

The 3 crosses, the hill, the tomb, the stone that rolled away and new life in the form of flowers.

BIG EASTER CHALLENGE

Is Easter happy or sad?

Challenge 4

Yesterday you watched a powerpoint about the symbols associated with Easter and looked at crosses. Today we are going to look at eggs! (Not the chocolate variety!) Why are eggs a symbol of Easter? There is more than one reason!

Do you think the egg symbol is happy or sad? What about the cross yesterday?

Let’s have a go together at making this egg. If you don’t have paint at home you could do it with colouring pencils. Decorate with any bits and pieces you have.

Ask if you can have some containers to fill with water either in the garden or at the sink. Practise making them full, half full, nearly empty etc. Do you think they all hold the same? Experiment and find out!

Is Easter happy or sad?

Challenge 3

There are many symbols associated with Easter. I wonder why the sign of a cross is used when we think about Easter? Today’s challenges are all about crosses.  Watch the powerpoint attached below then you can choose which activity you fancy doing from the following:

1.Make hot cross buns – there is a link to a recipe below

3. Make a palm cross from paper. Instructions are attached below, you need a long strip of paper or join a shorter piece with cellotape.

BIG EASTER CHALLENGE

Is Easter happy or sad?

A bit for your grownups: This Christian RE unit looks at the emotions of Easter and the symbols used in the different parts of the story.

Each day there is a new challenge so by the end of the week you will be able to answer the question “Is Easter happy or sad?”

Challenge 1

First make a happy and sad face puppet like these or your own design. Talk with an adult about events which are happy and sad.

27th March Friday

Good Morning Yr 1/2 it’s Friday which means it’s treat day! You have worked so hard all week that today there are lots of little “Superhero” challenges and games for you to try. You can pick and choose as you wish! You are all our SUPERHERO’s!

Please send us photos of your day so we can share them with everyone!

Superhero Treat 1: It’s T-set day – Superhero’s work hard and definitely deserve a sweet treat. Can you make a cake or some biscuits? Take a photo and share it with us! I’m going to make jammy buns I think! Here’s my recipe:

340g self-raising flour

85g butter or margarine

100g sugar

6tbs milk

Jam of your choice.

Rub flour, butter and sugar together until it’s like breadcrumbs. Add the milk and bring together to form a dough. Split the dough into 10-12 balls. Put on a greased baking sheet and push your thumb into each ball to make a hole. Put some jam in each hole. Bake for 15 mins on 170C.

 

Superhero Treat 2: Design yourself a superhero costume. Use a towel or small blanket to make a cape. Make a mask from card and decorate. (Template below) Add a symbol to your T-shirt. Put on your wellies. Pop a pair of pants/shorts over your clothes!! Choose a superhero name for yourself. Make sure you ask before you use anything!

 

 

Superhero Treat 3: Design your own comic strip about the adventures of you – the new Superhero! A template and shapes can be found below.

 

Superhero Treat 4: Watch and listen to Supertato https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rze89HB9u8g the story of a brave potato and a very naughty pea! Check your freezer for naughty vegetables!

Hope you have a day full of fun and remember to share your photos of the day. I'm going to make the buns and definitely try the fireworks in a jar! Supertato is a hilarious story! Remember we are very proud of you all.
